Thanks for beta-testing Kali. Feedback is most appreciated, especially bug reports. If Kali crashes, PLEASE try to render unto me a Macsbug log, along with all the typical bug reporting stuff. More info on how to do this found at the end.
please send all comments, bugs, and suggestions to support@kali.net.
PLEASE note that the control panel is very much a work in progress at the moment in terms of layout and features. this release is primarily to fix bugs, and falls in the middle of a reorganization.
Known bugs:
1) on some Macintoshes under certain versions of Open Transport, Kali will fail to open a TCP connection. to get around this, have another app open a TCP connection first.
2) color bleeding in Kchat
3) may pop into Macsbug on some unusual errors and events, which will crash any Mac without Macsbug installed with the error "Unimplimented Trap"
4) some people may experience the problem of their PPP or SLIP not opening. this has been linked to a conflict between MacIPX and Kali. Try removing the MacIPX Control Panel.
5) no ping information is displayed yet
6) sometimes a command in Kchat doesn't work. Try it again -- a packet is probably getting lost. Message of the day doesn't work on some servers.
7) Warcraft II crashes now that I've installed 7.5.5. This is a bug between war2 and 7.5.5, and has nothing to do with Kali.
Known suggstions:
1) Kchat sucks. make it look like Ircle. This will happen eventually.
2) balloon help
3) make Kali native
Making a Macsbug Log
Just in case there exists a bug or two in Kali . . .
This can provide me with invaluable debugging information. First, you need to make sure Macsbug is installed. Macsbug is a free program available at the usual round of anonymous ftp sites. To install it, just drop it into the system folder. If your Mac crashes, instead of getting a system error dialog, you'll go into the debugger. Trust me, you'll know you're in the debugger when it happens. If you don't have Macsbug, it's probably best to wait until you actually see a bug before going through this rigmarole.
Well, when you crash into the debugger, please type "stdlog" and hit return. Macsbug will create a debug file on your desktop that you should then email to me. Hit "g" and return to continue (hopefully it won't crash).
